Weekly Reflection

Black Lives Matter at School is a national coalition of educators organizing for racial justice in education. The demands of the BLM Week of Action are:

  • End zero tolerance - restorative justice in all schools
  • Hire black teachers
  • Mandate black history and ethnic studies
  • Fund counselors not cops

Please reflect on the week (and year) of work that we have done in the middle school leading up to this week -- science books, 1619 Humanities curriculum, advisory books, seminars in English and our celebratory community meeting with Soul Science Lab.

Why is it important to support and celebrate Black Lives Matter? Why is it necessary to hear all voices when we think about the stories of our past and present? The artists in Soul Science Lab said, "We need to remember where we came from to know where we are going." What does this mean to you?

Homework: One-page weekly reflection DUE Sunday @ 8pm
