8th Grade - Slope of a Straight Line

The slope of a straight line is a measure of its steepness, or how fast it rises vertically per unit length horizontally.

We have learned that the slope of a straight line is a measure of its steepness and we define

slope =  rise            
run

*Remember that our y-coordinates determine the rise and x-coordinates determine the run.
