What is a mineral?

A mineral is a naturally occurring, inorganic solid that has a crystal structure and a definite chemical composition.

To prepare for our upcoming visit the the Natural History Museum, we are getting familiar with the different properties of Minerals.  You have been given a packet to help jumpstart your discovery of minerals and their properties.  You will complete some of the worksheets by tomorrow and the rest will be finished when we visit the museum on Wednesday.

Note: You will identify the minerals on page 4 and complete as much of the chart on page 6 as possible.  You will complete the rest at the museum.  Please read the packet carefully.
